Over the years I’ve built many million dollar businesses. Sometimes on my own, other times with partners. I learned that by applying results based marketing, each and every business flourished – in good times and bad.
During this time I helped hundreds of business owners realize their dreams as well. It starts with a question:
What business are you in?
If you answered plumbing, catering, restaurant, dental or any other type of business, while technically you’re right, for this exercise, you’re not. I don’t say this to make you feel bad but to help you change your mindset and realize what business you’re actually in.
You are in the “Marketing Business”.
Yes, you read that right. You are marketing your business. Sit back for a minute and think about that.
Would you have a business without customers? Let me repeat the question… Without customers, would you have a business?”
The real power behind any marketing ideas comes from massive action, testing, measuring, and trying again. As a marketer, we can’t fail, we test and measure. If an idea doesn’t generate the results we want, we test again.
What other job can you think of that you can’t fail at?
Implement each idea as fast as you can. Your plan may not be perfect, and you’ll want to keep editing, tweaking and measuring but you need to make the move and get “it” out there. Putting crap out there is better than putting nothing at all. I’m not saying your stuff is crap, but bringing something crappy to a hungry market (think McDonalds) is better than bringing something perfect to a market that doesn’t want it. (If you were full, do you want to go to McDonalds?)
If you think like your competitors, then you’re going to get the results of your competitors. If they think you’re crazy, let them. You’ll be crazy all the way to the bank!
These are real marketing ideas that work. By using these strategies, and with a little time and a limited marketing budget, you can bring in huge amounts of bottom line profits. These ideas are tried and true methods that, with a little work will be working for you in no time!
I’m sure you’ve been approached by salespeople (and I emphasize salespeople for a reason – they are not experts on marketing) that offer you the full page ad in the Yellow Pages or maybe a spot in the local newspaper, or radio or TV.
When you market your business, test everything you do. I mean EVERYTHING!
We’re talking about targeting your best customers and potential customers to make a return on your investment. It’s about investing $1 and making $2 or more. We’re not talking about crossing your fingers as you dish out more money in the hopes that the salesperson, who you just purchased advertising from, is telling you the truth. Here is something else to think about… When the salesperson sells you advertising, whose interest does he really have at heart? Remember, if he doesn’t sell you advertising, he doesn’t eat…
You could test their sincerity by making this deal with them… Tell them you’ll certainly use their service, but only on one condition… You’ll pay them every time a prospect shows up to your business and that’s it! See what they say when you tell them you only pay for results!

Wouldn’t that be great? To use only results based marketing and not leave it all up to chance? These ideas are marketing initiatives that cost you very little to implement and bring in huge back-end profits. And the nice part is, for a lot of them, you will know right away if they’re working or not. This helps to offset the risk of your marketing investment. Before you spend a huge chunk of your marketing budget, you will be able to see the results and make the changes you need to get things back on track.
